Overview

This certificate programme is designed to for learners to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies required to implement thorough and efficient GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) within a business or organisation.

EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) came into effect in May, 2018, creating significant new requirements to be met by businesses and organisations in managing data. This included large financial penalties for regulation breaches; meaning that GDPR compliance became paramount for businesses.

Data controllers and processors are needed to reform internal governance of personal data processing to ensure that the new standards of data protection are met. Many organisations are required to appoint a Data Protection Officer; all organisations have to significantly enhance their compliance functions in order to ensure that the obligations of Data Protection Impact Assessments and data protection by default and design are complied with.

This programme allows participants to develop the necessary intellectual capital to ensure their organisations meet current and future regulatory responsibilities.

  • Learners will be able to interpret and apply relevant data protection legislation to their business/ organisation.
