Overview

This programme is designed to meet the needs of students who wish to gain an introduction to the world of web design. As organisations of every type and size move online or operate online-only, the ability to design, build and update websites is becoming increasingly important. This course will introduce students to the technologies used to create networked media interfaces, to web design principles, digital illustration and imaging.

Students will study the following areas;

  • Aesthetic Web Design
  • Usability and Web Design
  • Web Standards
  • Professional Practice
  • Evolving Technologies

On completion of this programme graduates should be able to:

  • Explain web design principles and process;
  • Create projects that demonstrate technical and theoretical web design skills;
  • Construct a portfolio in web design.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will be considered on an individual basis in accordance with the Institute policy on Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). IT Carlow reserve the right to require applicants to attend for interview to determine their suitability for the programme. All applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Lifelong Learning reserves the right to require applicants to attend for an interview to determine their suitability for the programme.
