Gerry Guihen, Irish Aviation Authority - I found the dissertation process to be the most rewarding aspect of the degree process. Throughout the various modules you build up a bank of knowledge and experiences which comes together for the dissertation. While the lectures, access to limitless and very useful information available and more crucially the means to access this is excellent the various assignments culminate in the learning process that can then be used to draft, to collate and finally piece together this information you have learned in the preceding terms. In view of ones circumstances, domestic or work it may be difficult to pursue further education, however the programme and the scheduling of lectures etc. made the process manageable for me, for which I am very grateful and appreciative.
Gerard Lawlor, Irish Aviation Authority - I found that completing the IT Carlow ‘Bachelor of Business Studies’ (Aviation and Transport) programme was a milestone in both my professional and personal life. The programme delivered on its commitment to provide quality lecturing and coursework. The lecturers represented a great blend of both academic and real world experiences. My background is in aircraft maintenance and my previous qualifications were all in aviation technical fields. The IT Carlow BBS offered me an opportunity to study a range of subjects that I had not previously studied such as ‘Marketing Management’, ‘Strategic Management’ and ‘Financial Management’ all of which I really enjoyed. I currently work as an Aeronautical Officer for the Irish Aviation Authority. I firmly believe that my increased knowledge of these areas in conjunction with the BBS qualification will assist me in my current role and will enhance my future career opportunities. Returning to education as a mature student is certainly challenging but is also very rewarding; the IT Carlow, BBS has encouraged me to pursue further studies.
