What is this Programme about?

This Technical Aircraft Management programme provides an opportunity to those wishing to train in the Aviation Leasing Sector. The programme is aimed at cross-skilling licenced aviation engineers by developing their aviation leasing expertise which will support the organisational need for a flexible and dynamic maintenance department.

Ireland is a recognised leading hub in the aircraft leasing sector and this programme has been developed in conjunction with the aircraft leasing companies who have specifically identified these skills as those required to work in this sector.

This Level 7 Special Purpose award programme provides specialist training in Aircraft Acquisition and Finance, Registration and Air Legislation, Managing the Contracts and Maintenance and Technical Record Administration.

Programme details

All lecturers have been selected for their proven academic track record and are experienced industry practitioners who focus on applied learning within each class.

Classes are delivered using a hybrid approach involving a combination of pre-course reading, pre-recorded classes, live and onsite classes. 

Who is this Programme for?

The programme is designed for licenced aviation engineers seeking to gain an understanding of the aviation leasing sector. The programme will also benefit licenced aviation engineers wishing to work in the aviation consulting and technical support services.

Online Support

Students will have full access to a range of supports available online and through Blackboard, our virtual learning environment. These include our new online programme, PACE, which is designed to support students to access and effectively use library resources in order to complete assignments. Additional supports include an Academic Writing Centre and Maths Support Centre, freely available to all students.

Entry Requirements

To qualify for this programme an applicant must have:

  • A current EASA maintenance licence or
  • A relevant aero degree qualification or
  • Evidence of substantial aircraft maintenance experience and demonstrable experience of recognised prior learning (subject to an interview process if deemed necessary) in accordance with the SETU Carlow Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Policy.

All programmes are mapped to the SETU Carlow Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy https://www.itcarlow.ie/resources/quality/quality-policies-procedures.htm and applicants who wish to apply using this route can request the specific RPL for this programme.

SETU Carlow’s RPL Policy offers clear pathways to the learner for recognition of previous learning undertaken and offer every credit to the learner in completing such learning. 

The Programme Board will be responsible for the assessment of entry standards and applications as part of any RPL Process.
