Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Accounting (3 years) & Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Accounting and Finance (2 year add on to Higher Certificate in Accounting)

Bachelor of Business (Honours) in Business Management

This four year Honours Degree course provides graduates with a level 8 qualification in Management. Knowledge, skills and competencies are developed through a range of mandatory and elective Management subjects. Research and project management skills are further enhanced as all graduates complete a Dissertation in their final year. Problem solving and communication skills, confidence and professionalism are all  enhanced through formative and summative assessment throughout the course. Teamwork is an essential element of some assessment facilitating learning and working collaboratively. Reflecting employer and learner changing expectations a recent development is the inclusion of a work placement in year 3 of the course. This will further enhance graduate business and customer awareness as well as communication and networking skills.

Graduates of the programme will not only have the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to take up roles in HRM generally, but also within the growing space for organisations to develop people management strategies. With a concentration on student growth, the development of cross functional and transferable skills will enable the student to contribute at the highest level in organisations. Building on industry demand for practical skills, the programme offers a work placement in year 3 followed by an Applied HRM module in year four. Complementing its success, the programme has been accredited and recognised by the leading association in the discipline; the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Higher Certificate in Accounting

Graduates of the Higher Certificate in Accounting (Level 6) programme are equipped to work in the accounting & finance departments of various organisations. In addition to being able to apply accounting, tax and business skills necessary for routine accounting functions, they are capable of working as part of a team in a structured, supervised business scenario. Graduates from this programme have developed practical IT skills that are required in many modern businesses. This programme encourages the development of graduate attributes such as upholding professional standards, ethical behaviour, self-motivation and also the development of transferrable skills in areas such as communication, analytical problem solving, attention to detail, multi-tasking and time management. The majority of graduates from the Higher Certificate in Accounting progress to further study on level 7 or level 8 accounting or business programmes.

Higher Certificate in Business

The Higher Certificate in Business programme is designed to equip students with a range of knowledge and practical skills, which will form the basis for embarking on a career in general business or for progressing to higher level academic qualifications. Students on this programme are also given opportunities to develop their graduate attributes and their employability skills over their two years of study, through interaction with colleagues as part of teams and through individual projects, which incorporate researching topics and presenting the outcomes to the wider group. The majority of graduates from this programme progress to further study on level 7 and level 8 business programmes rather than seek immediate employment.
