Advanced Entry Applicants

What is Advanced Entry?

Advanced Entry allows applicants to apply for entry to Year 2, 3 or 4 of a full time programme at South East Technological University. 

Please note that the recognition of prior learning and advanced entry processes and procedures do not apply to the following programmes on the respective campuses

Carlow Campus

  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Professional Social Care Practice and Bachelor of Arts in Professional Social Care Practice
    • Entry will be permitted at year one only and applications in relation to RPL, advanced entry and module exemption applications for any year will not be accepted and reviewed for these programmes. 
    • Applicants who seek entry into the year 4 of the Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Professional Social Care Practice programme, will be permitted once they have completed the Bachelor of Arts in Professional Social Care Practice programme, Carlow Campus and have obtained 180 credits. 
    • Student mobility and transfer opportunities across SETU campuses is not permitted for Social Care programmes.

Wexford Campus

  • Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Applied Social Studies in Professional Social Care
    • Entry will be permitted at year one only and applications in relation to RPL, advanced entry and module exemption applications for any year will not be accepted and reviewed for these programmes. 
    • Applicants who seek entry into the year 4 of the Applied Social Studies in Professional Social Care programme, will be permitted once they have completed the Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies in Professional Social Care programme, Wexford Campus and have obtained 180 credits. 

Student mobility and transfer opportunities across SETU campuses is not permitted for Social Care programmes.

Applications Open: 12th December

Applications Close: 31st July
 

How to Apply:

External Applicants

External Applicants must apply through the CAO website – www.cao.ie
Supporting documents should be sent to the CAO using the CAO document cover sheet.  Applicants should include:

  • Exam results
  • Transcripts
  • CV
  • Details of relevant work experience
  • Any other information that may support their application
Current Students

Current Students who are registered at South East Technological University Carlow Campus and who wish to apply for an add-on course do not need to apply through CAO. These students will be contacted by the admissions Office at South East Technological University in February.

How are Advanced Entry applications evaluated?

Advanced Entry applications will be assessed on the basis of availability of places and on supporting documentation.

When will place offers be issued?

Offers will be made on an on-going basis in July and August.

How long do I have to accept a place offer?

You have 14 days to accept your offer from the date you receive your offer by email.
