Job Description: Our UX Services Product Development team is hiring software engineers to help design and develop our next generation user interface. At Workday, all user interfaces are dynamically generated from metadata written by application developers. What that means is that our UX Infrastructure team is focused on providing toolset for application developers to build beautiful user experiences using advanced visualization techniques. You could be part of the team inventing next generation of consumer-scale services that serve Workday customers running in workday private cloud. • Participate in building a metadata based UI framework that hundreds of developers use to deliver Workday business applications • Enhance developer productivity by providing an intuitive and powerful development platform • Work closely with Product Management and colleagues in the UI teams to define new User Interface behaviors, widgets and containers – helping create a truly distinctive and world-class user experience • Collaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation, and implementation of new UI features including visualization aspects and server interfaces/contracts • Keep on top of task and bug management system for assigned issues each sprint as well as estimating and assessing priority. • Prepare for sprint planning by understanding the details (effort, risk, priority) of remaining work committed for an update • Demonstrate and showcase highlights of contributions each product update during sprint reviews • Have fun engineering software!
Required Experience: • BA/BS in a Computer Science/Engineering major is preferred • Experience of programming in an Object-Oriented language such as Java is preferable (e.g. final year project) • Familiar with development tools and processes, such as source control (e.g. SVN, Git), IDEs (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ), JUnit tests, debugging, Jira, Jenkins etc. • Workday products are web applications which run on all devices, so some exposure to any of the following would be beneficial: XML; HTML 5.0; REST; Scala; Chef • Understanding of agile techniques for software development would also be advantageous • A prerequisite for the successful candidate is that he/she is technically competent, a great communicator, an enthusiastic team player, who loves being challenged, and revels in troubleshooting & solving complex problems.
