Disability Supports

       

       

The Fund for Students with Disabilities is managed by the Higher Education Authority on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills. The Fund for Students with Disabilities is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning 2014-2020.

Disability Supports 

The Access Office in Student Services co-ordinates individual academic supports for *eligible full-time and part-time students with special requirements. These supports may include the provision of assistive technology, learning support, exam accommodations or equipment, funded through the Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD).

The purpose of the Fund for Students with Disabilities (FSD) is to assist further and higher education institutions in ensuring *students with disabilities have the necessary assistance and equipment to enable them access, fully participate in and successfully complete their chosen course of study.

The provision of supports to students with disabilities at Institute of Technology Carlow is not related to their eligibility for DARE. All prospective students are encouraged to make contact with the Access Office as soon as they can to arrange academic supports.  

All new students with disabilities are entitled to a Needs Assessment to determine their academic support requirements. The Access Office in Student Services co-ordinates individual academic supports for full-time students with special requirements. These supports may include the provision of assistive technology, learning support, exam accommodations or equipment.

To access Learning Support, students must register their disability with the Access Office, and make an appointment in the Student Services Office for a Needs Assessment.
