Mr Carton is teaching Architectural Technology at the SETU Carlow and prior to that was teaching at the Wexford campus. He began his teaching career in 2005 and has taught in the following specialities of architectural technology: Studio, Building Services, Professional Practice, History of Architecture, Materials & Structures, Construction Technology, Building Regulation & Health & Safety, CAD & IT. He has also taught on a BA(Hons) in Culture & Heritage on the Wexford campus in addition to the BSc. Courses in Architectural Technology.

Academic and Research Experience

Prior to teaching John has worked both at home and internationally in the architecture field. From 2003 to 2005 John was engaged by Fingal County Council as executive architect on a number of public building projects such as Garristown library and Malahide library. John has gained International experience with award winning architectural offices in Berlin and Dresden in Germany and also in London and Manchester in the UK. Closer to home John has worked for architectural offices in Dublin and Galway before making the move to academia.
