Ms Dawson is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor, who completed her primary degree through the University of Glamorgan (University of South Wales) in 2000. Having completed her degree Fiona undertook her Chartered exams through the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and was successfully recognised as a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in 2005. She worked for a number of quantity surveying consultancy firms prior to joining SETU Carlow in September 2007 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Built Environment. In September 2016 she became Programme Director for the Quantity Surveying Programme within the Department. She is currently undertaking a Master’s in Business through SETU Carlow.

Academic and Research Experience

Lectures on a number of undergraduate courses in Construction and Civil Engineering, within the Department of the Built Environment and extended Campus.

Publications and Outputs


Involved in the Quantity Surveying Working Group on Preparation of the SCSI Guidance Notes and feedback to Quantity Surveying Professional Group including:-

  • Valuing Change
  • Role of the Chartered Quantity Surveyor
 

Research Supervision

Has supervised a number of final year undergraduate construction dissertations.

Engagement and Collaboration

An active member of the SCSI (Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland) South Eastern Committee in a variety of roles. While also being involved in the Quantity Surveying Working Group.

Involved in the SCSI as an APC (Assessment of Professional Competency) Assessor.
