Message from the President

Welcome to Institute of Technology Carlow.
We are a community of almost 10,000 students and staff with a distinctive commitment to teaching and learning at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to connected and sustainable research, scholarship and creative activities that impact societal, economic and environmental development.
As we reach our 50th anniversary in the 2020/21 academic year, we take pride in all our successes and in our ever-increasing contribution to the societies that we serve.
Shaped by the many talented individuals and groups who have a strong belief in the public value of higher education for the economy, for health and for the lives of citizens and communities, our ambitious but highly attainable goal is to be a leading European Technological University.
Our Institute is a special and varied place, with campuses situated in scenic and cultural locations across the South East and Mid East regions, and home to first class facilities and amenities.
But at the Institute’s core are the talented and dedicated students, alumni, faculty, staff, collaborative partners and friends. Together we form an inclusive community centered on our geographical location but extending throughout the country and around the world.
This has never been more evident than in recent months when we responded and quickly adapted to the emerging COVID-19 global health crisis. As we look forward to academic year 2020/2021, we continue to employ every measure to manage this challenge with maximum safety for all in our community, while continuing to deliver on our mission and play our part in the recovery.
I trust that this website will help you to appreciate the spirit that sustains and nurtures this Institute and its people, and that you will find answers to the questions that have brought you here. I hope that you will take the time to visit us, if you have not already done so, and enjoy the unique experience that our students and graduates’ value so highly.
