Health & Safety

SETU Carlow is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for students staff and visitors in accordance with the Health, Safety and Welfare Act 2005. The Institute’s safety system document is available to view at the reception in the Carlow Campus, the reception in the Wexford Campus, the Art and Design Campus and the Wicklow Campus. The Safety System document is also is available below.

There are eight Ancillary Safety Statements within the Institutes Safety System which are as follows:

  • School of Engineering
  • School of Science
  • School of Business
  • Registrar
  • Secretary/Financial Controller (including Estates)
  • Lifelong Learning
  • Wexford Campus
  • Development

The Ancillary Safety Statements are available in the relevant department offices. It is a requirement that all staff and students read the documents fully and make themselves aware of their obligations and responsibilities. Students will be briefed on particular procedures within their own individual academic departments.

General Health & Safety

The Institute has an obligation to provide a safe working environment for all staff and students. Students have an obligation to behave in a safe manner, particularly in labs and when working with machinery.

Any student concerns regarding Health & Safety within the Institute should be reported to the appropriate Head of Department and to the Students Union who are represented on the Institute’s Health & Safety Committee.
