Green Campus Programme

The Green Committee was established in 2017 and is made up of both students and staff, who work voluntarily to promote sustainable citizenship in all aspects of university life.

We applied to An Taisce for a Green Flag, Litter and Waste Theme in January 2019 and despite the pandemic, have made huge strides in achieving this goal, and we hope to obtain the prestigious award in the next Academic year.

In the last few years, we have made substantial progress with recycling through the introduction of recycling bins and composting bins, signage, reducing the use of disposables and recycling campaigns. As a result, the Universities recycling rates have increased and the overall volume of waste has decreased.

Further efforts to improve reduce waste and increase recycling through operations, innovation and behavioural changes are ongoing.

Some events that took place recently:

  • Check it before you Chuck it Campaigns
  • Litter Pick
  • Sustainability in High Education Seminar

Why not join the Green Campus Committee, it is a great way to met other students and staff who share the same passion for the environment, and you can make a great difference
