We have a proven track record in energy management and has been successful in obtaining grants from the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to support energy initiatives. We have undertaken a number of infrastructural projects including LED retrofit, insulation upgrades, building fabric and glazing upgrades in the past number of years. We recently received a new €2.8 million grant for an energy retrofit of the Burrin Building, which will be completed by September 2023.

In 2020, we exceeded the National Energy Efficiency target of 33%. Since the established baseline set in 2006-2008, we reached a 58.1% energy efficiency saving in 2020 which is 25.1% better than the national target.

We are partnered with the OPW’s Optimizing Power at Work campaign and through this programme we provide information on energy consumption how staff and students can influence and save on energy consumption.
