Dr Shi is a lecturer in Institute of Technology Carlow. He received a Masters in computer science from Uppsala University, Sweden, and the PhD degree from University of Goettingen, Germany. He also worked in companies such as Dell-EMC Research Europe, Huawei Technologies and Hutchison Optel. He was a visiting professor in Technion, Israel and a visiting researcher at the University of Massachusetts, USA.

Research Interests

His research interests are cloud computing and network management. Currently his research is focused on management of resources for virtualized networks and functions, cloud computing and SDN. He published more than 40 papers in international journals and conferences. He has served as a TPC member/reviewer for more than 10 prestigious journals and conferences, including IEEE Network and IM. He has taught 13 different courses at 5 different colleges and supervised three PhD students.

Engagement and Collaboration

Dr Shi has participated in a number of competitively funded European and Irish national projects including the SLICENET (EU H2020), NEAT (EU H2020), EFIPSANS (EU FP7) and FAME (SFI) , and is the primary investigator of MobileCloud project funded by Irish Research Council and EU Marie-Curie Actions. He is also a co-founder of the Carlow Chinese Language School.
