Jai Prakash Mehta did his PhD in Computational and Molecular Biology from National Institute of Cellular Biotechnology, Dublin City University. His work was on finding clinically relevant subtypes and Biomarkers from Gene Expression Studies and used it to develop Machine Learning models to predict clinical outcomes. He carried on his research journey in CONWAY, University College Dublin and worked on many projects involving next generation sequencing and other high throughput techniques. Currently he is working as Assistant Lecturer in SETU Carlow campus and apart from teaching, is actively pursuing research activities in Genomics, Artificial Intelligence and Precision medicine.

Research Interests

Dr Jai Prakash Mehta research interest are in areas of Computational Biology / Bioinformatics and in particular working with Genomics and developing Machine learning models on cancer progression, invasion, metastasis, and drug resistance.

DNA sequencing is getting cheaper and more affordable to the masses. And this means more applications in clinical decision making. The bottleneck is in correctly interpreting the DNA data. Often noise is high, and the signals are low.  Dr Jai Prakash Mehta work focusses on identifying biomarkers and developing prognostic models which have clinical significance. His other area of interest is in Precision medicine; understanding how the Genome, Transcriptome and Proteome interact with each other, and methods to apply towards precision medicine.
