Research Interests

Dr. Owen Naughton (BA BAI PhD) is Lecturer in Environmental Engineering, SETU Carlow. Having graduated with a PhD in hydrology from the University of Dublin Trinity College, Owen went on to hold IRC Enterprise, EPA STRIVE and GSI research fellowships and a lectureship in the University of Galway before taking up his post in SETU Carlow Campus. His research interests are transdisciplinary with a focus on hydrology and ecosystem research, and much of his work ties in closely with implementation of the EU Habitats, Floods and Water Framework Directives. He has substantial experience and success independently directing research and securing research funding through competitive research grants and other sources, including industry. His research aims to use environmental observation (field, remote sensing), analysis and modelling techniques to develop an understanding of the structure and function of ecosystems and adaptive capacity to environmental change.
