OUR EXPERTISE

The aim of socialCORE is to undertake applied, collaborative research to support high-quality practice in social care, youth work and early childhood education and care. These are complex and ever-evolving fields of practice, and research has a key role to play in supporting professionals and policy makers to shape and effectively respond to developments in their sectors.

The socialCORE team is made of researchers and professionals with diverse skills and expertise. The professional backgrounds of our personnel include early childhood education, social care, social work, community development, youth work, psychology, health promotion, and adult education.

Staff Research

socialCORE researchers’ areas of interest include children’s rights, participatory youth work, mental health and unemployment, arts-based narrative inquiry, young people and popular culture, egalitarian theory and practice, research with children, teaching and learning for professional practice, and evaluation research.
