High profile guest lecturers address the student body at IT Carlow

The Institute’s Department of Humanities had the privilege of having three very high profile guest lecturers address the student body at IT Carlow during the past week.  On Monday 6th February, Mr John Lonergan spoke about his experience as Governor of Mountjoy Prison and touched on the reality of prison life, the scourge of drugs in modern society amongst other topics.  Mr Desmond Travers gave a lecture on his UN fact finding mission into the Israeli military operations in Gaza, and the subsequent Goldstone Report on Tuesday the 7th and on Thursday 9th Inspector Niall Featherstone spoke on Crime prevention and the Role of the Garda National Crime Prevention Unit. 

“The three lectures were very well attended and included a follow-up opportunity for questions-answers with the speakers and offered a valuable real-world adjunct to college education,” said Joseph Collins, Head of Department of Humanities, IT Carlow.
