South East Technological University Carlow Campus hosts Computing Summer Camp

Summer is a time for fun and what better place to find it than at South East Technological University? SETU is hosting a computing summer camp from 7 – 10 June on its Carlow campus. The computing camp, will give senior cycle students a taste of what it is like to study computing in college by introducing them to a variety of computing disciplines in a fun and interactive way. Students will learn how to sculpt in 3D, Ui design, web design, how to program games, defend a hospital from attack, computer forensics to solve a crime, and much more.

For the last 14 years, the computing summer camp has been an amazing opportunity for senior cycle students to learn about the latest technology in the computing department’s labs. Dr Noel O’Hara, lecturer in computing at SETU, believes this is a fantastic opportunity for students to get a feel for the college experience, “The computing summer camp is a fun and interactive experience for students in a third level environment, giving them both a taste of computing and an idea as to what college life is like. I feel that will be of benefit to them”. Learners aged 15 to 18 years are welcome but places must be booked in advance. The camp starts at 9.30am and finishes at 4:30pm each day, lunch will also be provided.
