Coastguard Helicopter Display for ITC Aircraft Systems Students

21/09/2011

Students on IT Carlow's Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Systems course were treated recently to a visit by the Coastguard rescue helicopter, which landed near the Institute's hangar and gave the students first-hand experience of the inner workings of this impressive aircraft.

The Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Systems is one of IT Carlow’s niche courses and attracts students from all over Ireland.  The course is run under Irish Aviation Authority approval and students can take the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) exams to qualify for European licenses to specialise in aircraft mechanical or avionic systems.  The Institute also has a strong relationship with UK’s Cranfield  University, where IT Carlow’s graduates can study a 9-month pre-master’s course before entering the 1-year Masters in Aerospace Vehicle Design.
