Studentsurvey.ie went live in IT Carlow this morning and will run until 15th March, allowing students to create a large and valuable data set of their experiences of higher education.

Previously known as the Irish Survey of Student Engagement (ISSE) before rebranding last October,  Studentsurvey.ie aims to amplify the student voice by inviting responses from first year undergraduate, final year undergraduates and taught postgraduate students across 27 higher institutions in Ireland. The results will inform developments within institutions around the country while also providing a national set of data.

A total of 40,557 students responded to last year’s survey – the highest response rate to date -  and more than 163,000 students have responded since the initiative commenced in 2013.

For the past seven years, Institute of Technology Carlow students have provided constructive feedback which has led to: quieter spaces in the library; new student areas; a free Blackboard app; new labs, lecture rooms and classrooms; new academic writing and support centres; more work placement and workplace training; better sports facilities; an increase in Masters level courses and a €1.2million investment in technology and equipment.

IT Carlow students will today be emailed a link to the survey, which can also be accessed via the Institute website and at the dedicated special studentsurvey.ie stand in the Central Services Building. Participants who complete the survey between 24th February and 15th March will be entered into a draw to win some great prizes, such as tickets to Sea Sessions 2020, cinema tickets, merchandise and smaller spot prizes.

David Denieffe, Vice-President for Academic Affairs commented, “The aim of Studentsurvey.ie is to listen to students and implement positive change across higher education informed by students’ self-reporting on their own experiences. I urge IT Carlow students to participate in this year’s survey so we can continue to improve and deliver better services based on your constructive feedback”.
