Research Week at Institute of Technology Carlow

Research-Week-at-IT-CarlowResearch Week (12th to 14th March) kicks off next week at Institute of Technology Carlow, during which the breadth of research activity across the Institute will be showcased and the collaboration and networking opportunities with industry and community partners strengthened.

The Dargan Centre at Institute of Technology Carlow, a research, development and innovation building, houses each of the CORE Centres of Research. These include enviroCORE, designCORE, gameCORE, engCORE, healthCORE, socialCORE.

Activities taking place during Research Week 2019 will feature a Research Networking Breakfast Meeting with industry and community partners. Other events include a showcase of current postgraduate students’ research in the Central Services Building, a South East Research Sparks day, at which researchers from IT Carlow and Waterford Institute of Technology share their research ideas, and a postgraduate presentation competition where attendees vote via social media poll for their favourite presentation.

Thomaé Duarte-Kakouli, Lecturer and Director of enviroCORE, the centre for research and enterprise in environmental biotechnologies said, “Research Week is about enhancing our strengths with industry partners to give back to the community who support us via public funding.”

All local businesses or community organisations interested in exploring research partnerships with IT Carlow, are welcome to come along to network, view the poster display throughout the week, attend the presentations and vote for your favourite presentation.
