The staff and students at Institute of Technology Carlow are delighted with the news that 2nd Year law student Molly Scott was named Carlow Sports Person of the year at the Nationalist County Carlow Sports Stars Awards, which took place in the Woodford Dolmen last Friday night.

Molly, who is pursuing an Honours Bachelor of Law (LLB), combines her studies at the Institute with competing as an international sprinter.

The Hacketstown athlete has enjoyed a fantastic 2018, the highlight of which was winning a silver medal as part of the Irish women’s 4x100m relay team at last summer’s U20 World Athletics Championships in Finland. In 2018, Molly also won under-20 gold and silver in the 60m hurdles and 60m spring respectively at the national indoor championships and she repeated the feat outdoors, winning gold and silver in the 100m hurdles and flat.

And Molly’s success continues with her winning her first ever senior title last week, taking gold in the 60m at the national senior indoor championships. That result has seen her selected to represent Ireland next weekend at the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Glasgow

Congratulations and Best Wishes Molly from everyone at the Institute!
