‘The Birdman’ Visits Institute of Technology Carlow for Bealtaine Festival
Institute of Technology Carlow last week hosted one of the headline events as part of this year’s 14th annual Bealtaine Living Earth Festival, which ran from 19th to 27th May.
Established by CALMAST in Waterford Institute of Technology to celebrate our living earth, Bealtaine Living Earth Festival brings together groups across counties Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Carlow interested in promoting biodiversity and natural heritage.
Author and award-winning broadcaster Eric “The Birdman” Dempsey gave an inspiring and fun talk for local primary schools pupils (3rd to 6th classes) at Institute of Technology Carlow entitled The Wonderful World of Feathers in which he introduced and spoke about the many interesting and unusual birds of Ireland.
Organiser Yvonne Kavanagh who is the Assistant Registrar at Institute of Technology Carlow said, “Bealtaine Festival developed by CALMAST brings science to the community. By working in partnership with community groups, this Festival celebrates biodiversity and the natural environment. Birdman’s talk made us very aware of how we can see nature all around us”
