“A Passionate Advocate for Education in Laois” Institute of Technology Carlow Governing Body Member, Cllr Jerry Lodge Passes Away After Half Century of Public Service
The Governing Body of Institute of Technology Carlow is saddened to hear of the recent death of Cllr. Jerry Lodge who passed away after a short illness.
A member of the Institute’s Governing Body since 2017, Cllr. Lodge made a significant contribution to education throughout a long and distinguished career as a public representative. He served the people of Laois and Portlaoise for more than half a century; he celebrated his 50th year in politics in 2017, having first been elected to the Portlaoise Town Commission. He was a passionate advocate for education in Laois and worked toward making higher education opportunities available in the county. As chairman of Laois Offaly Education and Training Board, he worked tirelessly to develop third level education availability in Laois during his time as a member.
Jerry was a much respected and admired colleague and friend to the Governing Body of Institute of Technology Carlow since 2017. Jerry will be sorely missed by all who worked alongside him in the pursuit of higher education opportunities and the Institute extends its deepest sympathies to his wife Patricia, sons Damian and Padraig and the extended Lodge family.
