enviroCORE Postgraduate Students Take Honours at Environ 2018


Two postgraduate students of  Institute of Technology Carlow’s enviroCORE research centre  took top prizes at the 28th Irish Environmental Researchers Colloquium (Environ 2018), the largest environmental  conference in Ireland, which took place recently in Cork Institute of Technology in association with the Environmental Sciences Association of Ireland (ESAI).

Sinead Morris won the ESAI Best Overall Poster Presentation and Laurence Kavanagh took honours for Best Plant Biology Poster . The postgraduate students, who presented their research, were accompanied by enviroCORE Director Dr. Thomaé Kakouli-Duarte. 

Environ is the largest and longest-running forum for environmental researchers in Ireland with nearly 300 delegates attending the annual event. It provides a showcase for young researchers to present their findings to an audience drawn from academia, industry, government bodies and agencies.

At the event, Dr. Kakouli-Duarte took the mantle for next year’s  conference on behalf of Institute of Technology Carlow, which will host Environ 2019.
