Institute Well Represented in National Hurling League Final
Students and staff were involved in yesterday’s thrilling Allianz National Hurling League final at Nowlan Park between Kilkenny and Tipperary.
In the last ten years, the rivalry between the neighbours has been the most intense and thrilling in hurling and yesterday was no exception. In the end, a second-half surge by Kilkenny saw the Cats secure their 18th League crown.
Richie Leahy, a first-year student in the BA in Sports Coaching and Business Management (GAA) played midfield for Kilkenny and scored a point in first half while Mark Russell (HDip in Business Marketing) came on in the second half for Tipperary.
Off-field, graduates Emma and Louise Byrne were analysts for Kilkenny’s hurling and camogie teams while staff member Michael Dempsey was part of Kilkenny Management Team.
Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful afternoon of sport.
