Computer Games Development Games Testing Day at IT Carlow
15/04/2011
On Wednesday, 13th April, from 10am-3pm, the students on the BSc in Computer Games Development held their annual Computer Games Testing Day, where the games they have designed and programmed as part of their BSc degree course in Computer Games Development were tested to the limit by schoolchildren from around the region.
Head of the Department of Computing and Networking Nigel Whyte, said “It is exciting to see such enthusiasm from second-level students for this course. While the students are of course interested in the new generation of computer games that are being initiated here at the Institute, they are also showing a great deal of interest in the programming requirements that happen behind the scenes. There is a huge industry in this area and it is great to see that second-level students are rising to the opportunity to be a significant part of it.”
IT Carlow’s BSc in Computer Games Development was developed with Microsoft, the makers of the X-Box®. This is the only degree course in Gaming that Microsoft has helped to develop and given its backing to. The course includes a six-month work placement.
