Institute of Technology Carlow Through to Fitzgibbon Cup Semis

Institute of Technology Carlow is through to the semi-finals of the Fitzgibbon cup after a four-point win at home last night over Limerick IT.  The final score was 1-10 – 0-18.

LIT led 0-11 to 1-7 at half time, with Carlow’s Sean Downey scoring the game’s only goal on 27 minutes. However, DJ Carey’s charges took control in the second half.

After the sides were level twice,  IT Carlow led for the first time when Charles Dwyer put them in front 1-14 to 0-16 in the 50th minute. And, once in front, DJ Carey’s side went on to victory as Davy Fitzgerald’s LIT exited the competition.

Last year’s beaten finalists, the Institute team has now registered victories over Mary Immaculate, NUI Galway and Trinity College in Group D.
Congratulations one and all!
