The adverse weather conditions couldn't stop our hurlers, who were on fire yesterday and out avenge their 2017 loss.

 

Heywood College, the meeting place of last year's bitter Fitzgibbon Cup final loss to Mary Immaculate College, proved to be a fitting location for yesterday's win over consecutive winners Mary I in Round 1 of the Cup.

 

DJ Carey's charges, with one man down in the second half and a half-time deficit,  beat their old rivals by a goal. The final score was 1-22, 0-22. 

 

Institute of Technology Carlow now go on to meet NUI Galway on Thursday 25th January.
