IT Carlow and County Carlow Local Sports Partnership offering a Community Sports Coaching Programme
07/09/2016
IT Carlow and County Carlow Local Sports Partnership launch new Level 6 Certificate in Community Sports Coaching earlier this year. Following the success of the programme County Carlow Sports Partnership, in conjunction with IT Carlow are pleased to offer the next Community Sports Coaching initiative starting early October.
The course focuses on assisting unemployed people to gain employment in the sports sector as coaches, referees, physical activity leaders or referees. The course also aims to provide a pathway for further education opportunities.
This Level 6 Certificate is approved and supported by Sport Ireland, formally known as the Irish Sports Council. Eligible applicants will have fees paid by the Dormant Account Funds Programme. National Governing Bodies are also supporting the programme, with all the coaching elements of the course certified by the IRFU, GAA, FAI and Get Ireland Walking.
Donal McNally Director of Sport in IT Carlow is excited about the prospect of collaborating once again with County Carlow Local Sports Partnership, “Although other Local Sports Partnerships have rolled out similar programmes, this venture is unique as participants who complete the programme will graduate with an NFQ Level 6 Award. This in turn will have a knock on affect in the community as local sports clubs will ultimately benefit from the expertise of the graduates coming back to work within their clubs.”
Closing date for applications is Wednesday 21st September. To apply for an application form or if you have any questions or queries, please telephone 059 91 72472 or email louise.barry@itcarlow.ie .
