Technological University of the South East Moves Forward With Historic Agreement Signed by ITC and WIT
The Technological University of the South East was brought closer this week following the ratification by the Governing Body of IT Carlow of an historic agreement between the two institutes of technology in the region.
The agreement, signed by the Chairman and President of each institute, commits the institutes to the development of a multi-campus Technological University with management and governance distributed across the campuses.
This means that management will have responsibilities across campuses with no traditional headquarters. Increased connectedness between management, staff, students and stakeholders will be facilitated by this innovative management structure.
The agreement will inform and facilitate the development of the business plan for the new university which the institutes intend to submit to the Higher Education Authority before the end of January 2015.
Welcoming the decision the chairman of IT Carlow, John Moore, congratulated the Governing Body for taking a brave decision that will have wide ranging implications for higher education in the region.
