FAI Euro 2020 Bid - IT Carlow Graduate Gary Seery plays central role in the creation of the video
In the aftermath of Dublin’s successful bid to host three group and one quarter final soccer games for Euro 2020, we spoke to IT Carlow Graduate Gary Seery who was centrally involved in the FAI / Dublin City Council Euro 2020 Bid video which was a key element of the tender process and indeed a huge internet hit in recent days.
Gary graduated from IT Carlow with a BA Sport and Exercise (Soccer) Degree in 2012 and was successful in securing an internship with the FAI working as the Performance Analyst with the Women’s Senior Irish team. Gary has also been working with the FAI Communications Department and this led to his recent involvement in the planning and coordination of the video. In looking for great material for the video, Gary worked with lots of different partners such as RTE, TV3, Tourism Ireland, Failte Ireland, Dublin City Council as well as the Dublin Convention Bureau who assisted by providing existing footage of modern Dublin. Gary says ‘the experience was fantastic. It was incredible to see how many people and how much time is involved in producing just two minutes of video and I thoroughly enjoyed the work involved. It’s a great feeling to have been part of such as successful venture’. As well as being part of this exciting and dynamic project, Gary has his own success to celebrate in recent weeks with the offer of a full time position at the Football Association of Ireland. Congratulations Gary from all at Institute of Technology Carlow!
