Dr Mary Delaney from SETU appointed the new Editor of An Leabharlann: The Irish Library journal

The Library Association of Ireland (LAI) announced that Dr Mary Delaney of South East Technological University (SETU) Libraries will be the next Editor of An Leabharlann.  An Leabharlann: The Irish Library is published twice a year by The Library Association of Ireland and The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (Ireland).  It is a peer-reviewed, open access, journal.

Cathal McCauley, President of the Library Association of Ireland, welcomed Dr Delaney’s appointment and said: “I am delighted that Dr Mary Delaney will be the next Editor of An Leabharlann.  Mary has a strong track record  and a keen interest in libraries and writing which will be invaluable.  I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work of the outgoing Editor, Marjory Sliney who over 14 years developed the journal to make it what it is today.  Finally, I would like to thank Alan Carbery who chaired the selection process that resulted in this positive outcome.”

Dr Mary Delaney said “I am delighted to take on this role and I look forward to working with library colleagues and the Library Association of Ireland in continuing the long rich tradition of An Leabharlann”.

Marjory Sliney said “ I am  very pleased that Dr. Mary Delaney is the new Editor in this the 60th year of the journal’s publication under the auspices of the North/South Liaison Committee. “

The first issue of An Leabharlann which will be edited by Dr Delaney will be published in early 2023.
