IT Carlow welcomes Stanford University for Cooperative Sports Medicine Seminar
06/06/2012
Students and graduates from all over Ireland attended the recent Sports Medicine Seminar: “Assessment, Treatment, and Corrective Exercise for Movement” at IT Carlow.
The seminar is the latest development on a growing relationship between IT Carlow and Stanford University. In 2009, while in his 4th year BSc Sports Rehabilitation & Athletic Therapy course, IT Carlow student Ian McCarthy, made contact with the Head Athletic Trainer at Stanford, Scott Anderson. Scott accepted Ian as a clinical placement student for 12 weeks in January 2010. He was so impressed with Ian and his skills that Stanford University has taken IT Carlow students for clinical placement ever since.
Speaking at the seminar, Dr. David Ryan, Head of Department of Science and Health at IT Carlow commented “We are delighted to host Stanford University again this year. This strategic link with one of the top Universities in the world emphasises the standard of the undergraduate programmes in Physiology, Sport, Rehabilitation and Athletic Therapy available here at IT Carlow”
