Head of Faculty of Engineering (Ref: 01/18)
Institute of Technology Carlow is an internationally oriented higher education institution with a focus on further enhancing its role as an exceptional quality of life driver within the regional, national and international higher education landscape.
The Faculty of Engineering of Institute of Technology Carlow currently provides undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees in a wide range of important fields of modern engineering and technology, attracting over 1,500 students annually from the region, nationally and internationally to study a wide range of programmes in Aerospace, Civil, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering, TV and Media Production, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Aviation and Emergency Services Management and Architectural Technology, alongside established and new apprenticeship provision. Since its foundation, the Faculty has had more than 16,000 graduates. Many of these graduates now hold senior and prestigious positions in the engineering industry, business, education and public sector.
Reporting directly to the Institute’s President, the Head of Faculty of Engineering will be a key member of the senior management team of Institute of Technology Carlow, and will play a pivotal role in the strategic development of the Institute as a whole, as well as the further development of the Faculty of Engineering across teaching and learning, research and innovation and engagement activities.
Qualifications & Experiential Requirements
Successful applicants must have a relevant Honours Degree (First or Second class), or equivalent, plus a relevant higher qualification (Masters or PhD), or equivalent professional qualification. They will also have at least five year’s relevant postgraduate experience with a proven ability in identifying opportunities and transforming these into innovative initiatives that will support the growth and development of the Faculty and Institute.
This role requires a highly experienced and motivated individual with a strong work ethic, who is committed to the highest professional standards, has a proven record of accomplishment, excellent communication and analytical skills and a team player who relishes and actively seeks new opportunities. The Institute is committed to the implementation of the recommendations of the Expert Group on Gender Equality in Irish Higher Education Institutions (HEA, June 2016). The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience in leadership in advancing equality, diversity an inclusive environment.
Salary: €82,834 – €105,818
