Graduate Profile

James Finn

Senior Engineer, Internet Engineering at Mastercard

How has the Higher Diploma in Computing helped you with your career?
I previously completed a Civil Engineering degree from IT Carlow, due to the economic conditions  at the time opportunities were limited in that sector. I returned to complete a Higher Diploma in Computing with no background in Computing. This course has opened up a world of opportunities to me in the technology sector in Ireland. The course touches on most aspects of the technology sector including Networks, Web Design, Java, Scripting etc. On completing the course I gained employment immediately in an IT infrastructure team in AIB in Dublin. I spent 18 months with AIB before moving  to MasterCard in April 2015 where I am currently working as a Senior Engineer in the Internet Engineering space. Without completing the Higher Diploma in Computing in IT Carlow I would not have access to any of these opportunities.

Would you recommend this course  ?
I would highly recommend this course to anyone who is thinking of pursuing a career in technology.Currently, Ireland’s technology sector is booming & jobs are plentiful. This course enables candidates to avail of these opportunities.
