The Application Process

Each application for admission to the register will be considered individually by the Research & Development Committee and forwarded to Council with a written recommendation.
The Council will ensure that your proposed work is of a calibre, content, context, quality and presentation appropriate to the level of postgraduate award sought.

The Council will then ensure that supervision arrangements and provision of adequate facilities are in accordance with the guidelines of the Institute and are adequate for the postgraduate study proposed.
 
The candidate, with the agreement of the Council, may undertake the research as an internal candidate of the Institute or as an external candidate not in attendance at the Institute except for periods as may be recommended by the Research & Development Committee.
 
All applications must be received six weeks prior to the proposed starting date of the research.
 
In order to avoid unnecessary delay, applications will be adjudicated by the Research & Development Committee as they arrive.
 
Once Council has admitted you, your name will be added to the postgraduate register maintained by the Institute, and the candidate, supervisor and Head of Department notified.
 
Enrolment
In order to undertake full-time candidature, you must be able to devote the equivalent of a minimum of FOUR DAYS A WEEK to the pursuit of the research project.
 
In order to undertake part-time candidature, it is recommended that the candidate be able to devote the equivalent of a minimum of ONE AND A HALF DAYS A WEEK to the pursuit of the research project.
