An Cosán - The Path to Learning, Leadership & Enterprise
An Cosán is committed to equal access to Higher Education and to supporting continual professional development in the community and voluntary sector. An Cosán is currently offering the following third level part time modular programmes Validated by SETU Carlow under delegated authority from Quality and Qualifications Ireland QQI (formally HETAC). These programmes are developed in the context of community education and lifelong learning and are intended for mature students. Minimum entry requirements apply.
Higher Education & Continuous Professional Development
- BA Degree in Applied Addiction Studies and Community Development QQI Level 7
- BA Degree in Leadership and Community Development QQI Level 7
- BA Degree (Honours) in Early Childhood Education and Care QQI Level 8

The modules in the An Cosán degree programmes are assessed through a variety of methods including projects, essays, learning journals, exams, presentations and group based work. The facilities available at An Cosán include the Opening Learning Centre which has computer and internet access, classroom/study rooms and hospitality lounge. As registered students of SETU Carlow, students will have access to Blackboard, SETU Carlow's virtual education resource, including off campus virtual library and the on campus Library in Carlow. Students will attend an induction day in Carlow in their first term.

An Cosán's Virtual Community College
In recognition of the capacity of digital learning for community education, An Cosán are at the forefront of creating a new and innovative virtual learning programme. The development of the Virtual Community College which is a new online education programme offers an imaginative, relevant and accessible approach to transformative education. The programme will also enable students to continue their professional development, to build their competence to use technology, and to gain a formally recognised award while deepening knowledge and understanding of theory, policy and practice.
