Job Description: Workday has openings for associate (graduate) engineers in our UI team to design and develop our next generation user interface. At Workday, all application user interfaces are dynamically generated from metadata … what that means is that our UI team is focused entirely on building beautiful user experiences using advanced visualization techniques. Required Experience: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Computer Science/Engineering major is ideal Experience of programming in an Object-Oriented language such as Java is preferable. This might be for a final year project, or during an internship Familiar with development tools and processes, such as source control (e.g. git), coding and debugging using an IDE (e.g., Eclipse, IntelliJ), and JUnit or Selenium tests Workday products are web applications which run on all devices, so some exposure to any of the following would be beneficial: Angular, React (or other web frameworks); JavaScript; CSS / SCCS; HTML 5.0 Understanding of agile techniques for software development would also be advantageous A pre-requisite for the successful candidate is that they are technically qualified and competent. They will also be a great communicator, an enthusiastic and motivated team player, who loves being challenged, and revels in troubleshooting & solving complex problems. As they gain experience, the Associate UI Engineer will develop a disciplined, methodical, minimalist approach to designing and constructing layered software components that can be embedded within larger frameworks or applications Responsibilities: Work with your UI team to build a metadata based UI framework which hundreds of developers use to deliver Workday business applications Work closely with Product Management and colleagues in the UI teams to define new User Interface behaviors, widgets and containers – helping create a truly distinctive and world-class user experience Collaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation, and implementation of new UI features including visualization aspects, server interfaces/contracts, and test automation Demonstrate and showcase highlights of contributions during sprint reviews (every two weeks) Have fun engineering software which is made available to our millions of users!
