Emeritus Association

The association was formed in 2003 to enable retired and/or soon to retire staff members to meet their former friends and colleagues socially. The association was formed by and is run by the members for their mutual benefit. The college management has encouraged the association from the start and has helped by providing library/computer/internet facilities and the use of a room for meetings.

Meetings
Usually each month by arrangement. We meet for lunch (1:30pm) at the college or the Lord Bagenal Inn, Leiglinbridge, or the Dolmen Hotel, Carlow.

Lectures
Throughout the academic year 2003/4 lunchtime talks covering a wide range of topics were held in the small lecture theatre. and attended by both staff and students. Anne Garvey (who has since retired) deserves great thanks for having made the necessary arrangements. This year we intend to identify suitable topics and/or lecturers for public lectures at the college. A talk by a member or a guest speaker after our monthly lunch meetings has also been in operation since 2006.

Outings
Ideas for future activities include;) formation of special interest groups (eg; investment syndicates, golf outings, concerts, plays, travel groups etc), subject to demand.

The future of the association lies with the members themselves. It is hoped that our website will be a means of keeping in contact  24/7 (as they now say).
