Research Experience

 

Dr Noel Richardson has extensive experience in the area of men's health at a research, policy and advocacy level.  He is co-author of the first ever National Policy on men's health, which was published in Ireland in January, 2009. He has developed a close working relationship with the Health Service Executive since 2002 as a researcher and policy advisor in men's health. During that time, he produced a comprehensive research report on men's health for the Department of Health and Children. 

 

Noel completed a doctoral thesis in men's health in 2007 with a thesis entitled Men's health practices and the construction of masculinities. He is director of the Centre for Men's Health at the Institute of Technology Carlow, with responsibility for men's health research and training. He has presented at international conferences on men's health and is a respected spokesperson on men's health in Ireland through television, radio and print media. He is chair of the Men's Health Forum in Ireland and a board member of the European Men's Health Forum.

Men's Health – masculinities and men's health; men's health policy; workplace men's health; men's health and obesity; unemployment and men's health; social determinants of men's health.
