Research Experience

 

It is imperative from both a human dignity as well as costs on the national health services that people remain for as long as is practicable within their own homes. Within this research we will consider in particular patients that are suffering with early Alzheimer’s.  Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) is of paramount importance given the demographics of the European citizen and the ever increasing proportion of the European citizens who are 65+.

 

 

Research Interests

 

With technological advances including: wireless sensor technologies, Radio Frequency Identifier (RFID) tags, Bluetooth enabled devices, wearable computing devices and Ambient Intelligence the vision of Ambient Assisted Living is very much a reality. A reality that is both unobtrusive and economically viable. This research will be undertaken in conjunction with the Adaptive Information Cluster at University College Dublin and Dublin City University.

 

Current Research Projects

 

May 2006 : Research funding under the ‘Technological Sector Research: Strand I Post-graduate R&D Skills Program’, in association with the School of Computer Science and Informatics, University College Dublin. The project will address Ambient Assisted Living (AAL). 

 

In particular my research is located in the area of Mobile Computing, E-commerce and Artificial Intelligence.
