Declan is the Head of IT Carlows Wexford Campus.  He lectured in the School of Business and prior to that was a member of the staff of the Department of Marketing in NUI Galway. He has also lectured in the FHTW Berlin, University of Voronezh (Russia) and the Technical University in Warsaw (Poland).
 
He has been involved in conference papers presented in Ireland, Britain, France, Argentina, and the United States on topics as diverse as Contemporary Marketing Practice in Ireland and The Use of Business Simulation Games as a Training Tool. He has also written book chapters and articles published both in Ireland and abroad.
 
 
Research Experience
 
He is the current director of the Postgraduate Research Programme Board in the School of Business. There are seven post graduates currently undertaking research in the school on topics including Supply Chain Management, Marketing, Rational Decision Making and Disability Studies. Other supervisors involved in the area are Micheal O Fearghail and Dr Anne Garvey. Staff from the School of Business are assisted by Dr John Mangan from the IMI and Dr Diarmuid O Se from the School of Science.
 
PROJECT/MBS SUPERVISION
 
Kevin McDonald- MBS dissertation title A Profile of Irish Internet Shoppers. This project is funded under Strand 1 funding for graduate training. Kevin presented a paper from his dissertation at the Irish Academy of Management conference in WIT in September 2002.
Paul Howard - MBS dissertation on the Role of the Buying Centre in Irish Biotechnology Companies.  This dissertation looks at the application of Business to Business marketing practices in the Biotech sector.
Miriam Monahan - MBS dissertation on the Strategic Use of Information Systems by Irish SMEs. Miriam completed her degree part time through the Institute of Public Administration and IT Carlow in 2002.  She continues to work as a project administrator in Lapple Ireland while conducting her research.
 
Kieran Alcock has recently completed his MBS on the College Choice Decision Making of Leaving Certificate Students.  He is presently completing papers for submission to the Irish Marketing Review and other marketing journals.
