Former Institute of Technology Carlow Lecturer Called To The Bench

IT Carlow lecturer becomes judgeA former law lecturer at Institute of Technology Carlow is to be made a judge, following his recent nomination by the Government to be appointed to the District Court.

Brian O’Shea began lecturing on the Institute of Commercial Management Diploma in Legal Studies programme at Institute of Technology Carlow in 2005. He went on to lecture on the BA in Law programme within the Lifelong Learning offering at the Institute, while continuing to lecture within the Diploma in Legal Studies course before it was phased out.

Mr. O’Shea attended the Garda Training College in Templemore and was an active member of An Garda Síochána in Carlow from 1997 to 2003 before going on to study at King’s Inns. As a barrister, Mr. O’Shea worked in many different areas of law, including criminal, family and civil and brought this experience to bear as a lecturer at the Institute. He is currently a State Prosecutor.
