08/03/2017

IT Carlow will host two events this week as part of Engineers Week (4th-10th March). Science communicator Sue McGrath, known as ‘Scientific Sue’ will host three interactive shows on Thursday (9th March) at 10am, 11.30am and 1.15pm. Entitled ‘The Science of Bubbles’, the show highlights the magical world of ‘bubbleology’ – why bubbles float, why we can see rainbows in bubbles, why bubbles are round and the secret behind big bubbles. With the help of several volunteers, Sue will show many bubble tricks and then relate them to science.

‘It's All Done with Mirrors’ is a stunts and illusion show taking place this Friday morning (10th March) for 3rd to 6th class primary school students. Host Dr. Ken Farquhar will blend magic tricks, illusions and stunts that showcases science and engineering to keep students on the edge of their seats. His show utilises mirrors, camera effects and trap doors to intrigue students before revealing the engineering behind the tricks. ‘It’s All Done With Mirrors’ takes place at 9.45am, 11.15am and 12.45pm.

All shows should be booked through Engineers Ireland. Visit www.engineersweek.ie
