Mr John Moore Appointed Chairman of Institute of Technology Carlow’s Governing Body for a Second Term

John Moore President of IT CarlowInstitute of Technology Carlow welcomes the reappointment of Mr John Moore as Chairman of its Governing Body for a second five-year term.

Mr Moore is an engineer and a leading business figure and entrepreneur with a wide range of business interests nationally and internationally in the engineering, property and leisure sectors.  Educated at Patrician College, Ballyfin and University College Dublin (UCD), he worked internationally with Kentz in senior roles prior to establishing his own companies. 

Mr Moore was first appointed Chairman of Institute of Technology Carlow in 2011 and has presided over a time of unprecedented growth and development at the Institute.

I am proud of the phenomenal achievements of the institute over the last five years. Its current proud position as a sectoral leader is testament to the great efforts and ability of the staff of the institute led by a very capable and engaged Governing Body. Institute of Technology Carlow has leaders at every level, people with vision, ambition and ability. The institute will over the next five years bring transformative change to third level provision in the South East and I look forward with enthusiasm to the journey.”

Commenting on Mr. Moore’s reappointment as Chairman, the President of Institute of Technology Carlow, Dr. Patricia Mulcahy said, “We are delighted that the Minister for Education and Skills has announced the reappointment of John Moore as Chair of our Governing Body for a second term.  John’s wide ranging international experience and knowledge has been of immense value to the Institute during a period of significant change and development.  He has given very generously of his time and expertise over the past five years and shares our ambitious plans for the next stage in our development”.

Institute of Technology Carlow is the fourth-largest of Ireland’s Institutes of Technology with more than 50,000 graduates and employing over 800 staff. It is recognised by the Higher Education Authority as one of the top-performing institutions in the State under the national mission-based performance compact and currently has over 7,000 learners across campuses in Carlow, Wexford and Wicklow.
