Student from Wexford Campus IT Carlow wins national student logo competition

18/06/2015

Louisa Lemarchand, a 3rd year erasmus student studying BA (Hons) in Visual Communication and Design jointly won ‘Best Slogan’  for the first Higher Education National Student Volunteer Management System.  The winners were announced at the Irish Universities Association, Merrion Square, Dublin 2.

This unique national collaborative initiative sets to increase substantially the numbers of HEI students volunteering in their local, regional, national and international communities.   Student volunteering has a long history in HEIs but this new national system will, for this first time, capture the diversity and give a national picture of student’s contribution to Irish society.  It will also provide communities throughout Ireland with an open door to a very valuable resource.

The national campaign saw over 100 entries from across all of Irish Higher Education institutions. Students were invited to design the new logo for studentvolunteer.ie and an accompanying slogan. The adjudicators from One House Design and Campus Engage, the national platform for higher education civic engagement, chose the winning design for its clarity, energy and clever use of the website name.
