JEREMIE SANDOT - COMPUTING

I originally came to Carlow from France for nine months as part of an International Student exchange program. I enjoyed the course that I was doing and I liked the lovely Irish weather and people, so I decided to stay a bit longer! At the end of my course, I worked on a student work placement for the summer in the Computing Services Department of IT Carlow. I really enjoyed it. There was so much to do and I was always learning. At the end of the summer, a position came up in Computing Services, so I applied for it and was delighted to get the full-time job.

What I liked about the course
I found the material covered on the Computing Course to be very interesting. The mixture of theory and practical elements meant that I was being prepared for entry into a work environment immediately after studying. The emphasis on practical skills in the course meant that I was more readyfor employment than students from purely academic courses in other colleges.

So where am I now?
I am now working in Computing Services in IT Carlow. Our department supports all computing services to staff and students throughout the college, both in Carlow and Wexford. I am very involved in the preparation and support of laboratory practical classes for students from Certificate, Diploma and Degree courses. I am also involved in supporting specialist industry standard certification courses for staff and students of the college.
On a personal note, I work closely with the international students on-campus. I am also involved with the Sports and Social Committee in the Institute.
